Cameo Island
Cameo Island is one of the most distinctive spots in Zakynthos — a tiny private islet just off the coast at Agios Sostis, connected to the mainland by a long wooden suspension bridge that has become an icon in its own right. Lined with pine trees, rope handrails, and weathered planks above crystal-clear turquoise water, the walk across is half the experience.
Once on the island you'll find a small sandy cove for swimming, sun loungers under reed umbrellas, and a relaxed bar serving drinks and snacks. White fabric bunting strung above the water flutters in the breeze — it's a place that feels worlds away despite being only a short walk from shore. Cameo is also one of the most romantic sunset spots on the island, and a popular venue for weddings and proposals.
Combine a swim in the cove with drinks at the cliffside bar, or come in the late evening when the bridge and the iconic "Cameo" sign light up against the sea. A small entrance fee includes use of the loungers — pay once and stay as long as you like.
Villa Zoi Local Tip
Go in the late afternoon — swim in the cove while the sun is still high, then stay for sunset drinks as the lights come on along the bridge. Weekday evenings are far quieter than weekends.
